AMCS anti-collision systems on Vinci HQ jobsite

French construction company Vinci is building a new headquarters in Nanterre, Hauts de Seine, in the Groues district of western Paris. Across the 90,000 m² jobsite, 11 flat-top tower cranes (a mixture of Potain and Liebherr models) have been equipped with DCS 60 anti-collision and zoning systems from French anti-collision specialist AMCS Technologies.

According to AMCS, the systems manage potential interactions between the multiple cranes to negate any risk of collision. If required, the system can intervene, slowing the crane’s mechanisms to ensure complete immobilisation at a pre-set distance from an obstacle.

AMCS has also installed its Sup 61 supervisor system in the jobsite manager’s office in order to monitor the cranes’ on-site activity in real time. Information from cranes equipped with the DCS 60 systems is transmitted via radio link and displayed on a single screen. AMCS said it records all anti-collision and positioning information including slewing, travelling, lifting, load, events and defaults. It also allows users to remotely intervene and neutralise crane’s activity, if required. Remote activation and deactivation of whole areas (zones) is also possible via the Suo 61 system, AMCS said.

According to AMCS, work will continue on the jobsite until 2020 during which time it expects to equip more cranes on the jobsite with its anti-collision and zoning systems.
