Denzai cranes for Long Thanh Airport construction
08 July 2024
Crane and transport specialist Denzai K.K. will supply cranes for the construction of Long Thanh International Airport being built in the suburbs of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Construction of the airport is being carried out by a joint venture consortium of ten companies. The cranes will be supplied by Denzai Vietnam Corporation, a subsidiary of the Japanese Denzai group. It signed a crane lease contract with ATAD Steel Structure Corporation (ATAD), a member company of the JV.
From October 2024 to February 2025, two 800 tonne capacity crawler cranes and other Denzai equipment will be put to work to help construct the airport terminal building. This is part of the first phase. It will cost an estimated US$4.1 billion and include a runway and a terminal, with a capacity of 25 million passengers a year.
Commenting on the contract Kohki Uemura, Denzai CEO, said, “We received the order in recognition of our track record of providing crane operations for several airport construction projects, including the Haneda Airport Runway-A Extension Project and Narita Airport Expansion Project. We are very honoured to be involved in this major project to build a new air gateway to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where the population continues to grow and the economy continues to develop.”
The ground breaking ceremony for the new airport project took place on 31 August 2023. See story.
Long Thanh International Airport will have a capacity of 100 million passengers and 5 million tonnes of cargo a year.
