Michelin añade un nuevo tamaño de neumático para grúa

Tire manufacturer Michelin adds a new size to its X-Crane 2 range.

The 445/95 R25 features a new load and speed index of 178F. This allows the crane to carry a larger load at higher speeds. Its predecessor, the X-Crane+, had an index of 174F. The additional capacity per tire is significant: an additional 800 kg at 80 km/h, ie 1.6 tons more per axle at high speeds.

The French company said its new tire offers longer tread life, improved traction, improved safety, and overall performance, all thanks to the use of Michelin Regenion technology.

Michelin explains that its Regenion technology uses 3D metal printing to create self-healing treads. In addition to longer tread life, it offers a fuel consumption reduction of more than 13%, equivalent to a saving of 826 liters of diesel per 10,000 km traveled, according to the manufacturer.

Shorter braking distance

Improved wet braking performance is an added advantage. The company stated that its multiple wet braking tests showed that its closest competitor, the Bridgestone VHS2, requires 27% more braking force, equivalent to more than 10 meters of additional braking distance.

Designed for off-road cranes, it can be used both on and off-road and is certified for M+S (mud and snow). It combines a civil engineering carcass with a truck tread and is 5% lighter than the X-Crane+.

The new X-Crane 2 in 445/95 R25 is approved for use on Liebherr, Grove, Tadano, and Link-Belt all-terrain cranes. The first X-Crane 2, launched almost a year ago, was in size 445/75 R22.5 for Sperings mobile folding construction cranes.
