Roadcraft takes delivery of Sany AT crane
18 June 2025

Roadcraft Crane & Plant Hire in the UK has taken delivery of its first all terrain crane from Chinese manufacturer Sany and put it straight to work on a job in Liverpool.
The crane is a 60 tonne capacity SAC600E with a 50 metre, five section telescopic boom and three-axle carrier. Power is from an EU Stage V diesel engine made by MTU and driving through an automatic Allison 4500SP transmission with torque converter. A Telma retarder acts on the third axle, supplementing the all round disc brakes on their Kessler axles.
In line with the UK’s road regulations at 16.5 tonnes an axle, the crane can carry 13 tonnes of counterweight, for self contained taxi crane operation.
Multiple reasons
Commenting on his choice of new crane Colin Parkinson, Roadcraft Cranes operations director, said, “There are many reasons why we have chosen to invest in Sany as opposed to other suppliers but the key ones were that the quality of the cranes is equal to other manufacturers, the cranes have strong charts and lifting performance and Sany has a presence in the UK and ROI as well as the rest of Europe. I expect that in the future we will see Sany gain market share in Europe and will have a strong presence in the mobile crane market.”
For his part Andrew Snow, Sany cranes country manager for the UK and Republic of Ireland, said, “We are delighted that Colin has placed his trust in Sany with the order for this crane and we are looking forward to working with him going forward. Sany has strong brand recognition in many parts of the world and the European market is starting to realise what we have to offer. With a growing number of products being made available for our market our offer will go from strength to strength.”
Founded in Liverpool in 1920, Roadcraft is claimed as the UK’s oldest crane rental business. Its mixed fleet includes cranes up to 200 tonnes from a range of manufacturers, including Demag, Franna, Grove, Kato, Liebherr, Tadano and Terex. They are operated in the north west of England.
