Friday roundup: more growth in IC100 | SC&RA Workshop | reality capture
04 July 2025
Our weekly roundup of highlights from the Crane and Transport Briefing for the week beginning 30 June 2025.
Even stronger growth in the 2025 IC100 crane top list
This year the IC100 top list ranking the world’s largest crane-owning companies shows even stronger growth than last year with a double digit increase.
Solid growth and a few significant disruptors characterise this year’s IC100 top list which ranks the world’s biggest crane companies according to their equipment fleet’s lifting capability.
Looking at the overall headline totals, we had 214 companies with a combined total fleet capability up 11 per cent on 2024 and more than 20 % up on the 2023 total.
The top 100 is where we focus, however. Its combined total IC Index in 2025 was up an even more impressive 12 %. Everything else is up too, for example, the number of employees, by nearly 9 %, more than any year in at least the last decade.

Reality capture is changing the way industry sees the jobsite – literally and strategically.
You’ve likely used or worked around parts of it already – drones on a jobsite, 360-degree cameras on a tower crane, perhaps a Lidar scanner rolling through a structure.
Put simply, reality capture is the umbrella term for technologies that digitise physical environments. These tools collect data that can be used to build detailed 3D models, virtual walkthroughs or highly accurate jobsite maps. The output? A digital twin of your project that anyone, anywhere, can access.
Far from being just an engineering tool, reality capture is transforming the day-to-day work of field crews, lift planners, rigging experts and transport co-ordinators – and it’s fast becoming a key differentiator in competitive bids.
