Manitowoc employees from around the country participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Manitowoc Company employees from across the nation participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge, raising $10,000 for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)*, often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease."

A team of employees involved in organizing the event wanted to make the challenge a company-wide event to help unify and rally employees around the need to find a cure for ALS. The challenge started with the Manitowoc Ice facility in Wisconsin and traveled throughout 10 other facilities in Florida, Indiana, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Michigan. The event ended at the Company’s world headquarters in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

Chairman and CEO Glen Tellock participated in the challenge. “I couldn’t be more proud of our employees’ support in raising funds for ALS. Our team members continue to go above and beyond to help so many worthy causes like the Relay for Life, United Way, and now The ALS Association. I’m delighted by the support from our employees and thankful to be part of such a great team,” he said.

Hundreds of employees participated and/or donated to the fundraising effort. Funds were raised through a combination of employee and Company contributions. Buckets, trash cans and pails were filled with water and ice provided by Manitowoc ice machines. The company’s activity was posted on their Facebook page and YouTube account.
