Lifting and transport specialist Arabian Consolidated Trading in Saudi Arabia has placed an order for 18 new wheeled mobile cranes from Liebherr.

The new cranes will all be in lifting capacities ranging from 100 to 150 tonnes. Three of them will be the 100 tonne capacity LRT 1100‑2.1 rough terrain. Of the remaining 15 all terrains seven will be the 120 tonne LTM 1120-4.1 on four axles and eight are the LTM 1150-5.3, a five axle 150 tonner.

Commenting on this last model Mohammed Hassan Al Naimi, ACT Group CEO, said, “An important factor for us is the longer 66 metre telescopic boom compared to the LTM 1160-5.2. The 150 tonne crane is the perfect addition to our fleet.”

Long-term partners

A primary application area for ACT’s cranes is in oil refineries so high safety standards are a prerequisite. Work includes operations in maintenance and decommissioning.

ACT bought its first crane from Liebherr in 1987 and now has more than 190 of them. Its total fleet is 250 cranes and there are 1,000 employees. Company headquarters is in Jubail and it has offices in Dammam, Riyadh and Yanbu.
