Aviation safety methods to be shared at World Crane & Transport Summit

06 August 2019

At the World Crane and Transport Summit (WCTS) in November Blanca Claeyssens, a former airline captain and pilot instructor, will highlight safety strategies from aviation industry that can be applied in heavy lifting and specialized transport.

Claeyssens, the managing director of ASA France, a risk mitigation and insurance claims business, has more than 20 years’ experience in aviation, flying Boeing 737 and 767 aircraft and training cockpit and cabin crews on safety techniques.

She will focus on aviation best practices and outline the importance of communication. Her presentation will show the implications when situational awareness is lost during a heavy lift and transport project.

“Aviation has made significant progress over the last 60 years, with zero accidents in 2017, the safest year on record for commercial air travel”, says Claeyssens.

“Our project cargo industry has a long way to go to match that, but the established techniques from aviation can be transferred to our industry and help us close the gap.”

WCTS is organized by KHL Group, ACT and International Cranes and Specialized Transport and takes place in Amsterdam on November 13 and 14. SC&RA is a supported of the conference.
