Bay Crane’s Capital City buys into Cleveland
31 July 2024

Crane rental specialist Capital City in the USA has acquired cranes and related equipment from Midwest Equipment Company.
Bay Crane Companies subsidiary Capital City Group has expanded its presence in the Cleveland area with the acquisition from Midwest at Garfield Heights, Ohio. The Midwest Crane Rental premises will become the Capital City Cleveland branch.
Commenting on the opportunity Brian Gibson, Capital City Group president, said, “We are thrilled to bring the expertise and resources of Capital City Group to the Cleveland area. Midwest Crane Rental has an excellent reputation, so when we became aware that the owners were looking to retire and wind-down their operations, we recognised the unique opportunity to enter the Cleveland market and continue their tradition of outstanding service.”

Capital City said Midwest Crane has a strong history of providing top-tier crane rental services, and that the acquisition builds on that, offering enhanced capabilities and a broader range of services and equipment to the region.
The Capital City Group has been operating in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions for nearly 30 years. Its fleet includes specialized transport equipment and more than 500 cranes. The crane fleet includes crawlers over 1,000 tonnes capacity, all terrain cranes up to 900 US tons and and rough terrain up to 160 US tons. There are five other Capital City depots in Ohio.
Bay Crane started in 1939, offering crane services in New York. It has made multiple acquisitions in the Northeastern USA and is now one of the largest crane-owning companies in the country.
