An 800 tonne capacity crawler crane from Zoomlion in China is making its mark in Morocco, North Africa.

The ZCC9800W lattice boom crane is being used to help build the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, a key venue in Rabat for the 2030 FIFA World Cup football. On completion it will go on to help build other venues.

The ZCC9800W has a basic load moment rating of 9,800 tonne-metres which can be increased to 11,000 tonne-metres with additional equipment.

In Rabat it is lifting steel beams and other structural steel work weighing hundreds of tonnes. The manufacturer said it was designated as the primary hoisting solution on site.

After lifting work is complete at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, the ZCC9800W move on to assist in construction of the Grand Stade Hassan II stadium in Benslimane, near Casablanca. With a capacity of 115,000 people this one is due to be the world’s largest football stadium. Due to open in 2028, it will be the national stadium and home to several football teams.
