Crane topples at US mine

Two ironworkers were injured, one of them critically, following a crane accident at a US coal mine in north east Wyoming, according to Associated Press (AP).

TIC Wyoming, a heavy industrial contractor based in Casper, said the cause of the accident at the Black Thunder mine in the Powder River Basin on Saturday 31 May, has not yet been determined.

AP added that, according to officials at the site, the crane toppled over as it moved tubing over a rail line. The Mine Safety and Health Administration shut down the mine and was investigating the incident.

A third injured worker was released from hospital on Sunday.
