Dual exits lifting and transport insurance
05 August 2025
Dual Specialty Construction & Transport (formerly NBIS) in the USA exited the crane and rigging, concrete pumping, specialized transportation and heavy haul insurance segments on July 21, 2025.
According to Dual it will discontinue quoting all new business in these segments. All policies with active quotes in the last 120 days will be issued at the stipulated terms only, once all requested underwriting documents have been provided. It is also discontinuing quoting renewal business for SC&T all lines of business (inland marine; general liability; excess liability; automobile liability; and worker’s compensation) policy effective dates and in compliance with all state regulatory non-renewal notice period requirements.

Dual was an insurance partner with the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association. “The SC&RA has enjoyed a productive ongoing partnership with the team that started as Special Risk Services (SRS), then transitioned via acquisitions to Nations Builders Insurance Services (NBIS), then Dual,” said SC&RA CEO Joel Dandrea.
“The industry has seen many market changes, challenges, successes, and solutions – that’s the realistic nature of P&C insurance in our space. This 28-year partnership brought many talented and passionate insurance and risk management professionals through SRS, NBIS and Dual. The Association recognizes and appreciates the SRS, NBIS and Dual history, commitments, and solutions. SC&RA wishes the best for the Dual team as they move in other strategic directions,” Dandrea continued.
SC&RA will continue its insurance partnerships, including its partnership with National Interstate Insurance Company (NIIC) and its four preferred producers, Brown & Brown, Emery & Karrigan, Gallagher, and USI Insurance Services.
Each of these partners remain committed to working with members on viable insurance and risk management solutions and have just confirmed their commitments to extending their formal partnerships with SC&RA for a new three-year term, starting in January 2026 and continuing through December 2028, according to SC&RA.
