Eagle West lands Bear Mountain project

Eagle West Cranes and its subsidiary Stampede Crane & Rigging have been awarded the crane services contract for the Bear Mountain Wind Farm near Dawson Creek, British Columbia in Canada. The wind farm will operate 34 wind turbines, each with a hub height of 80 meters (262 feet) and a total standing of 383,900 kgs (844,580 pounds). The project is slated to start in June 2009 with completion due by 30 September.

Bob Fairbank, COO at Eagle West Cranes, said the project will employ rough terrain, all terrain and crawler cranes from the company’s fleet, as well as other rigging and support equipment. Eagle West will supply all equipment operators, riggers and project managers for the wind turbine erection.

“Eagle West has been awarded 100 percent of the wind turbine hoisting work within the province of British Columbia and when the Bear Mountain project is complete, our organization will have been responsible for the transportation and/or hoisting of 245 wind turbines throughout Western Canada,” Fairbank said.
