Space for assembly and rigging of the cranes was very limited inside the gas plant, which was operating at full capacity during the project

The 25 processing units lifted and placed included 10 vessels (DRVs), nine modules (PAUs), five piperacks (PARs), and one compressor. The heaviest vessel, a CO2 stripper (DRV 245) weighed 340 tonnes (750,000 pounds) and was 66 m (216 feet) high. One of the modules, an after-cooler pre-assembly (PAU 125) weighed 440 tonnes (970,000 pounds).

To carry out the series of lifts, Transrig used a fleet that included a Demag CC 8800 crawler, Liebherr LR 1400/2 crawler, a Tadano Faun ATF 100 all terrain, a 250 tonne capacity climbing system, and Kamag self propelled modular tansporters (SPMT). The Demag was configured with 500 tonnes (551 tons) of superlift ballast to install the vessels and modules at a radius of 48 m (157 feet).

Transrig says the space available for assembly and rigging of the cranes was very limited inside the gas plant, which was also operating at full capacity. Special attention was paid to health and safety aspects of the project as many of the vessels and modules were lifted over and close to existing units that were operating under full pressure.

In addition to the lifting aspects of the job, the contract also included internal transportation and load outs at Aker Kvaerner's yard (Aker Stord), of loading, transportation, lifting and installation at the Karsto Gas Plant, as well as all engineering, planning and logistics work.
