Grove to launch. five axle 240 ton mobile
01 May 2008
Grove is preparing to launch a 220 tonne (243 ton) capacity five axle wheeled mobile crane. The GMK5220 will be the latest addition to Grove's range of all terrains and the first unit is scheduled to roll of the production line at the end of 2005.
With the seven section telescopic boom extended to its full 68 m (223 feet), at a radius of 24 m (78 feet), maximum capacity will be 16 tonnes (14 tons). Fully extending the Twin–Lock, Megaform boom takes 460 seconds.
Adding the 12 to 21 m (39 to 69 foot) bi–fold lung swingaway and two 8 m (26 foot) inserts gives a maximum possible tip height of 105 m (344 feet). The jib can be hydraulically offset by up to 40 degrees from the cab and its maximum lifting capacity is 19 tonnes (21 tons).
Maximum load moment is 655 tonne–metres and Grove said the GMK5220 has one of the best lifting charts in the five–axle all–terrain category. Up to 77 tonnes (85 tons) of counterweight can be accommodated–more than any other crane in its class, according to Grove.
