Hiab acquires ING Cranes

Manufacturer Hiab has announced an agreement to acquire fellow loader crane maker ING Cranes.

The Finland-based loader crane and materials handling equipment manufacturer will strengthen its position in ING’s home market of Brazil. The value of the acquisition was undisclosed.

ING Cranes, based in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, was started in 2010 and reported sales around €50 million in 2024. It has 250 employees. Articulated crane models range from 4.5 to 120 tonne-metres with up to 10 boom extensions. It also offers jibs, radio controls, winches, operator assistance systems, outriggers, below the hook tools, accessories and more.

Commenting on the move Hiab president and CEO, Scott Phillips, said, “The acquisition of ING Cranes is a logical step in Hiab’s growth strategy, and it aligns well with Hiab’s ambition to expand not only organically but also inorganically. Over its 15-year history, ING Cranes has demonstrated a strong track record of profitable growth. Therefore, we expect that, post-transaction, this will help us increase our overall market presence as well as our ability to deliver significant value for our customers and all external stakeholders.”

Brazilian consolidation

For his part Marcel Boxem, VP sales and product management, Hiab Loader Cranes, Heavy and Superheavy, said, “This acquisition brings together Hiab’s global reach and broad loader crane offering with ING Cranes’ strong local expertise and portfolio. With this, Hiab positions itself to become the leading loader crane provider in Brazil.” 

Hiab’s wide range of loader cranes goes right the way through from light to heavy duty. Markets served in Brazil include agriculture, construction, rental and transport.

Subject to the usual conditions the deal was expected at the time of writing to close at the beginning of 2026.

In more than 100 countries around the world Hiab already has 3,000 of its own and partner sales and service locations. Hiab sales in 2024 were €1.6 billion and it has more than 4,000 employees.

The acquisition completed on 5 January 2026. Marcel Boxem commented, “We are very pleased to welcome ING Cranes as part of Hiab.
