Huisman to build heavy lift cranes for offshore vessel

Dutch crane and engineering specialist Huisman has been awarded a contract from COSCO Shipping (Qidong) Offshore to design and construct two 2,000 tonne capacity leg encircling cranes (LEC).
The cranes will be installed on Cadeler’s two new build X-class vessels
The cranes will be installed on Cadeler’s two new build X-class vessels, and will be used to install foundations and turbines for offshore wind farms, as well as for operation and maintenance work.
The identical leg encircling cranes have a 155 metre long boom, capable of reaching 180.5 metres above deck. Optionally, the boom can be upgraded to 175 metres to increase the lifting height to 200.5 metres.
The company said the limited tail swing of its lightweight but robust cranes make them ideal for the construction of offshore wind farms.
The crane will be constructed at Huisman’s production facility in Zhangzhou, China. The cranes will be commissioned at COSCO’s shipyard in Qidong, China, where the X-class vessels will be built.
