Harold Keen started Keen Transport in 1968 when he purchased Ohio-based Curtis Keel Transport. A long-time professional in the transport business, Keen envisioned a company that would cater to construction equipment manufacturers and contractors.

“In the beginning, they had the one location in Ohio, hauling and sometimes driving construction equipment to jobsites,” says William Keen, who now runs the company his father started. “Shortly after buying the business they opened a branch in Pennsylvania and started expanding the market.”

As the customer base grew, the company started opening branches at or near the facilities of construction equipment manufacturers. As these companies began exporting to other countries, Keen began opening new facilities near ports, developing a market for construction equipment being imported or exported through the seaports. Today Keen Transport has port facilities in Houston, Miami, Savannah, Baltimore, plus three other facilities in North Carolina and four in Illinois. The company has 3,320 tractors and trailers.
