Brazilian crane rental specialist Guindastes Tatuape’s latest fleet addition is the first Liebherr in the country with the new LICCON3 control system.

The new LTM 1110-5.2 all terrain on a five axle carrier will expand the fleet of the São Paulo-based company. It joins other 110 and 120 tonne capacity Liebherr models in the fleet and will be used in the oil and gas, industrial and mining sectors.

Guindastes Tatuapé has been buying Liebherr cranes for more than 30 years.

Commenting on his crane’s new LICCON3 control system Marcelo Monteiro, Guindastes Tatuapé sales manager, said, “The system is intuitive to use, offers fast response times and better visualisation thanks to its large display.”

Other features on the newest member of the fleet include the adjustable VarioBase Plus outrigger deployment and VarioBallast ballast radius setting function. These systems are designed to increase safety and flexibility on site.

On the move

When travelling to and from site the crane’s TraXon DynamicPerform transmission from ZF provides greater efficiency and incurs lower maintenance costs, Liebherr said. Dynamic Perform is an oil-cooled multi-disc clutch module incorporated to allow the crane to start from a standstill and manoeuvre at slow speed. It doesn’t wear like a standard single plate friction clutch does.

Further efficiency while travelling is achieved where, “The crane can carry with it a lot of ballast when driving on roads without needing an additional vehicle for transport,” Monteiro added.

Guindastes Tatuapé has been going for more than 60 years. In addition to crane rental, it offers a special haulage service. It employs around 400 people and has the same number of units in its fleet. Cranes include wheeled and crawler mobile cranes, articulating loader cranes and materials handling equipment.

Most of its work comes from the oil and gas, wind energy, prefabricated concrete construction, mining, petrochemicals, sugar refining and cellulose industries.
