Liebherr inaugurates new Miami maritime facility

Liebherr opened its new maritime service center in Miami on June 11, 2013, with a ceremony attended by more than 300 industry customers and guests.

Serving Liebherr’s maritime cranes division, the new center will help the company strengthen business relations in Central and South America and the Caribbean region.

The grand opening afforded guests with the chance to check out Liebherr’s latest machines, with a model of the company’s new, eco-friendly hybrid drive, ‘Pactronic’ on display. Also showcased were a crawler crane, a piling and drilling rig, reachstackers and mobile cranes.

Built at a cost of US$20 million, the sales and service center offers a workshop, equipped with an overhead crane, two fully equipped 20 ft. (6 m) welding containers, one 20 ft. (6 m) wire rope reeling container and two fully equipped mobile harbor cranes commissioning containers. For off-site servicing, the facility also has six service trucks.

“The new facility perfectly meets the requirements to further improve our sales and service performance in both North and Latin America,” said Gernot Schranz, president of Liebherr Nenzing Crane Co.

The new facility is located in Hialeah Gardens near Okeechobee and the Florida Turnpike, and will employ 52 persons when fully operational.
