Liebherr offshore crane in Korea bound for Canadian LNG project

From South Korea to British Columbia, Canada, a Liebherr crane is set for installation on new floating LNG unit.
Liebherr will supply an RL 4600 offshore crane to Samsung Heavy Industries in Geoje, South Korea, for installation on the Cedar LNG floating production unit.
The completed vessel will be towed to British Columbia, Canada, where it will process and export natural gas offshore. Cedar LNG, one of Canada’s first Indigenous-majority owned energy projects, is designed to run entirely on renewable power. Delivery to the yard is scheduled for summer 2026.

The RL 4600 will handle lifting operations aboard the vessel; moving equipment and supplies during production and maintenance. It offers a lifting capacity of 40 tonnes and a main hoist outreach of 28 metres.
Neat and tidy
Its slewing column integrates the main drive, central hydraulics and control systems in a single unit, reducing external components and simplifying maintenance. Liebherr’s Litronic control system monitors load, radius and system behaviour in real time and adjusts hoist speeds automatically.
Once the unit enters service, Liebherr Canada will provide on-site maintenance and technical support.
