Munderfing, Austria-based lifting and transport company Taurus Kran & Transport used its Palfinger PK 200002 L SH loader crane to help rebuild the Zwölferhorn cable car, near Salzburg, Austria.
The working space was confined and precision was required
To access the site the crane operator had to drive up a steep single-lane access road at an altitude of 1,500 metres above sea level. The crane was required to place the side walls and 1.6 tonne roof girders for the new Zwölferhorn mountain station. According to Palfinger, the working space was very confined and millimetre precision was required.

To help achieve this Palfinger said the operator used the crane’s rope winch with Synchronized Rope Control (SRC) comfort function. The SRC is designed to take over during crane operation and ensure constant distance between the crane tip and the load during rope lengthening or shortening movements. The system is controlled via Palfinger’s Paltronic control and monitoring system.
The build took seven months in total
The crane was also used during a second operation at the site to place boulders for slope stabilisation. To achieve the required level of accuracy for this the Paltronic control and monitoring system was used in conjunction with Palfinger’s PALcom P7 radio remote control system.
