Luna unveils new AT

24 April 2008

Spain-based Luna Cranes is preparing to deliver its new 90 tonne (99 ton) capacity all-terrain crane to Spanish rental house Pedregal, which bought the AT-90/58 first seen in early prototype form at Spain's SMOP7C construction exhibition last March.

Luna claims that, at 58 m (190 feet), its latest model has the longest telescopic boom in its class. The six section curved profile boom has a single cylinder extension system with automatic pinning. Up to 18 m (59 feet) of offsettable jib can be added to give a maximum tip height shown on the chart of 259 feet.

The four axle AT-90/58 runs at 13 tons per axle with 16.00 R25 tires, 1 ton of counterweight and hook block. The carrier and the superstructure engines are Mercedes-Benz diesels, OM501LA (315 kW) and OM-904LA (125 kW), respectively.

Drive/steer is 8x8x8, suspension is hydropneumatic and the transmission is a 12-speed ZF AS-Tronic.

The operator cab can be tilted by up to 20 degrees to give the operator a better view and the crane has the manufacturer's own fully integrated CANBus-based electronic system with full in-cab information display.
