Mammoet lifts components in Singapore

Mammoet was hired by Linde to lift and install over a hundred components for a plant’s gasification facility upgrade in Jurong Island, Singapore.

Mammoet employed a range of equipment to support the facility upgrade

The items to be installed included pipe racks, rotating equipment (turbines, generators), e-containers, columns and reactors.

Mammoet employed a range of equipment to support this facility upgrade including a CC8800-1 Boom Booster, CC2800-1, CKE2500 and 110 Mobile crane, SPMTs, plus jacking and skidding systems.

The team installed the main substation via a complex rigging method, the set up of which took a day to complete, before the installation took place.

Different SPMTs were used to tranport the cranes and the components

18 axle-lines of double-wide SPMTs were then used for transportation of multiple cranes on the Jurong Island highway.

The APAC regional team assembled the CC8800-1 with Boom Booster using the assistance of a Demag specialist – this being a first such deployment for the region.

The CC8800-1 with Boom Booster was then used install the 800 tonne methanol wash column before jacking and skidding of the condenser unit took place. Mammoet said using boom booster kit instead of a gantry system made time and cost savings.

Due to the coronavirus restrictions, there was a shortage of manpower so there was daily, and occasionally hourly, planning to ensure maximum productivity by the team.

Several activities were executed at the same time too to complete the job in the most efficient way.

Talking about the project, Florian Paech, site director for Linde Engineering said, “Linde highly values Mammoet’s professional and problem-solving working style, and the flexible collaboration within the teams.”
