Marchetti launches new crawler
30 April 2008
Italy: At the Samoter exhibition last month, manufacturer Marchetti added a crawler crane to its already established product line up of all terrain, truck mounted and city class mobile cranes.
The new telescopic boom MTK 1004 C has a lifting capacity of 71 tons (65 tonnes) at a radius of 10 feet (3 m) when operating on outriggers, and 39 tons (35 tonnes) at the same radius when working without outriggers.
The superstructure is based on the design of the company's MTK 1004, which is mounted on a commercial truck chassis. With outriggers retracted the crane has a total width of 8 feet
(2.5 m).
The outriggers have a hydraulic leveling system to allow the crane to operate on rough terrain. Power is provided by a 226 hp (169 kW) Iveco NEF engine.
Export manager Marcello Maestri, said that Marchetti has already received interest from potential customers, and plans to demonstrate the crane to a number of crane rental companies and contractors around Europe.
