The National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) has elected Ellis Vliet of Turner Industries Group to the post of chairman.

Mr. Vliet, an equipment manager with Turner Industries Group, was appointed at the 33rd Biannual Commissioners’ Meeting held in Houston in October. His initial elected term is three years.

He has been an active participant in the development of CCO certification programs since 1999 and was appointed to the Mobile Crane Practical Exam Management Committee in 2001, becoming committee chairman in 2010. He has also been involved with Commission activities since 1999, and was elected a Commissioner in 2003.

Mr. Vliet succeeds Kerry Hulse of Deep South Crane & Rigging in Houston, Texas, who held the post of chairman for the past 15 years.

Mr. Hulse is currently serving a three-year term on the NCCCO Board of Directors. Since 1997, he has presided over 31 Commission meetings. During his term of office, NCCCO grew from its original four certification designations to its current offering of 20 certifications in nine categories.
