Nelson breaks ground on new facility

Nelson Manufacturing is expanding to meet demand for its trailers, boom dollies and boom launchers.

Trailer and boom dolly manufacturer Nelson Manufacturing Company in the USA celebrated the expansion of its new final assembly and office building with an official groundbreaking ceremony.

The multi-million dollar investment will add 18 jobs and expand the plant’s existing footprint by 73,000 square feet (6,800 square metres). The new facility will be west of its existing campus and parallel to state route 224.

“As products continue to evolve both in size and technologically, we also must change our manufacturing process,” said Tony Niese, Nelson Manufacturing president. “We have outgrown our existing facility, and the expansion will allow us to

be more productive so that we can meet the increased demand for our products. We doubled our production capability in 2008 and added a high bay building in 2017. This new state-of-the-art facility will allow us to continue to support our customer needs by providing a high-quality, custom-built product. We plan to occupy the new facility in January 2026.”

The new facility will be combined office space and a final assembly building. It will allow Nelxon to support increased capacity and improve production workflow in a safer, more ergonomical manner, Niese said.

Nelson Manufacturing produces custom semi-trailers, boom dollies and boom launch trailers. Founded in 1947, the company’s trailers and dollies are built to order which allows them to offer solutions to specific needs. Nelson uses the latest technologies combined with proven designs to provide not only the most efficient and user-friendly trailers and boom dollies on the market but the most durable as well, Niese said.

Markets include crane, rigging, construction, heavy haul, oversized and aerospace.
