Phelan Haulage in the UK has expanded its capability with a Daf tractor unit mounted with a Hiab crane.

Specialist MV Commercial supplied the new unit, described as “an absolute monster,” by Peter Phelan, company director. It lifts 4 tonnes at its full reach of 16 metres. “This unit has allowed our business to undertake jobs that require heavier lifts, improving our reputation as a high-reach and high-load Hiab crane truck specialist.”

In the numbers

The tractor is an XG 530 and the crane is a Hiab X-HiPro 858 EP-6. It joins three more crane trucks in the fleet.

Most of Phelan’s work is to transport abnormal loads, for example, telecom poles and moving shipping containers for use at corporate events. It also has an urban rear steer trailer to transport abnormal loads up to 36 metres long.

The Durham-based company operates in the North East of England and Scotland.
