Nordic Crane completes heavy lift for Swedish refinery

Nordic Crane, a heavy-lift contractor with operations across Scandinavia, has completed a series of heavy equipment deliveries for the VAROPreem Refinery Lysekil in Sweden.

The largest tank in the move was a single unit weighing 65 tonnes and measuring10 metres in both height and diameter. This and other units were transported using self propelled modular transporter (SPMT) with multiple axles.

In addition, the move involved delivery of the tanks from marine to road transports using multiple mobile cranes.

According to Nordic Crane, the assignment was co-ordinated across various parties, with a high emphasis placed on safety, documentation and quality.

A critical element of this were the weekly coordination meetings held prior to execution of the transport, which allowed early identification of possible challenges and risks.

In addition to working with the oil and gas industry, Nordic Crane has experience managing operations across various infrastructure and construction projects, including movement of wind turbine components.
