Polaris Projects, the specialised logistics division of Polaris Shipping Agencies in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has completed the first phase of a project which will see oversized pressure filters moved to a customer location in East Asia.

Due to political uncertainty in the Middle East and the lack of direct vessel access at UAE ports for units of this type, Polaris had to develop an alternative logistics strategy for the project.

As part of this, the initial road leg involved transporting the 90-tonne, 23-metre filters from the UAE to the Polaris yard in Oman. This required specialist trailers, route surveys, street furniture removal and cross-border permits.

With congestion at Omani ports extending delays to about one month, Polaris Projects coordinated cargo staging and vessel arrangements to minimise delays.

According to Polaris Projects, a series of transports for similar equipment are set to follow.
