International heavy lift and transport specialist Sarens has signed a memorandum of understanding with Empire Energy Partners’ Offshore Division to work on offshore wind energy projects in the USA.

The framework agreement combines Empire’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) with Sarens’ heavy lifting and specialized transport capabilities. The one stop shop approach will allow the two companies to “address the rapidly growing demand for integrated EPC solutions in the US offshore wind market,” Sarens said.

Commenting on the agreement Steven Sarens, managing director at Sarens Projects USA, said, “We are excited to collaborate with Empire Energy Offshore to provide our industry-leading heavy lifting and transport solutions to the offshore wind market. By working together, we can offer a seamless, integrated service that will streamline project execution and ensure the success of offshore wind developments in the US.”

Empire will lead as primary EPC contractor and Sarens will provide its heavy lifting, specialized transport and engineering support.

Sarens’ experience in the USA already includes work on the Coastal Virginia offshore wind farm, the largest in the country. It has also worked on offshore wind farms around the world, including in the North Sea, Netherlands and South Korea.
