Scanreco to acquire CrossControl to boost smart machine tech

Scanreco describes itself as a global technology partner providing remote and onboard HMI (Human-Machine-Interface) and mobile machine and industrial vehicle control solutions that unlock the full potential of the operator.

The combined group will have approximately 600 employees and annual revenue of around SEK 1.4 billion (US$151.1 million), with sales from more than 100 countries globally.

The acquisition brings together two complementary technology domains – remote control and onboard HMI and vehicle computing.

The joint product portfolio includes remote control solutions for cranes and other construction equipment, on-board displays, vehicle computers, and machine control solutions for a wide range of applications.

Scanreco said that, “At its core [it] is a modular, open, and scalable software platform that supports OEMs on their digitalisation journeys.” It added that, “going forward, the software platform will enable a unified development environment across machine models and applications providing a trusted foundation for building increasingly connected, data-driven, and automated solutions.”

Both companies are based in Sweden and say they have long-standing partnerships with some of the world’s leading OEMs.

In many mobile machinery applications, the operator’s role is shifting from direct machine control toward supervision, planning and interaction with stakeholders across the value chain.
