London Fire Brigade confirmed it had rescued one person using a 13.5-meter ladder.

Eight people left the building before the emergency services arrived, seven of whom were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews due to smoke inhalation.

It said the fire was first reported at 8.23 on Tuesday morning and was under control by 09.36.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.

The fire produced a significant amount of smoke. People in the area were advised to keep windows and doors closed as crews responded.

Hallsville Quarter is a £600m town centre which forms part of the £3.7bn Canning Town and Custom House Regeneration Programme. The project is being delivered by Bouygues’s real estate and construction subsidiary Linkcity and Bouygues is main contractor.
