Due to the building’s overall weight, the assignment required a large number of axle lines that could be electronically coupled and controlled due to the unequal load distribution.

The heavy goods logistics company used 254 axle lines of self propelled modular transporter (SPMT) from TII Scheuerle. A total of 15 Power Pack Units (PPU) drove the vehicle combination.

According to the company, this transport is the world’s heaviest building transport to date.

Additional challenge

In addition to the enormous weight to be transported, the special challenge of the transport was the uneven distribution of the load due to the asymmetrical architecture of the 90 metre long, 35 metre wide and 20 metre high building.

The Sinotrans team also had to turn the building clockwise by 63 degrees and then counterclockwise by 63 degrees during transportation to reach the new location.

It took Sinotrans eight hours to lift the building and transport it safely to its destination.
