Stronger PowerHoss

Six axle module of red PowerHoss carrying a yellow lattice section Scheuerle now offers its SPMT PowerHoss series in a six axle version with a capacity of 330 tonnes per module

Scheuerle has expanded its SPMT PowerHoss series by adding a six axle unit with a 330 tonne payload.

The 3 metre wide self propelled transport modules can also be used in a vehicle combination. The width allows them to offer up to 40 per cent more stability than competing products, the German manufacturer said.

Previous SPMT PowerHoss modules have had two or four axles. Their payloads are 85 and 174.9 tonnes per module, respectively. Its built-in PPU drive unit (power pack unit) means it is ready to go with minimal set up.

Individual PowerHoss modules can be connected and operated in a simple plug-and-play manner, Scheuerle said. This can be either connected mechanically or electronically in a loose coupling mode or coupled together laterally or longitudinally. Combining four SPMT PowerHoss 330s will move loads up to 1,320 tonnes.

PowerHoss applications for intralogistics include the construction industry, power plants, shipyards, mining and steel and in the petrochemical sector.

Manouevrability is always a key feature and the PowerHoss can be used on many types of surface inside factories and outdoors. It is based on the technology used in the self propelled modular transport (SPMT) series. The long-travel pendulum axle bogies mean no reloading is needed when transporting from a building to the outdoors. Also from the well proven SPMT is electronic multi-directional steering.
