Swagerman named Mains Crane & Rigging president

Carolyn Mains, chairwoman of Mains Crane & Rigging Ltd., has announced the appointment of Alan Swagerman, P. Eng., as president of the Mains group of companies. The group includes Mains Crane & Rigging Ltd., Main Crane USA, Mains Transportation Services Inc., Nisku Engineering Ltd., and Independent Crane & Equipment Ltd.

Swagerman has been involved in the crane rental industry for more than 25 years in both eastern and western Canada. He has served on the boards of both the Crane Rental Association of Canada and the Crane Rental Association of Ontario.

He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his leadership role at the Mains group, Mains said. Under his guidance, the exceptional team at the group of companies will continue to provide existing and potential customers with outstanding service, she said.

Mains Crane & Rigging Ltd. was established in 1994 by Craig Mains (1950-2010). The privately owned company provides crane rental and lifting services to various industrial and commercial sectors including mining, oil sands, petrochemical, pulp and paper, infrastructure, hydroelectric, and wind power. It is the largest non-union crane rental company in Canada. Mains primarily services western Canada but operations have expanded into the United States as Mains Crane USA, Inc., with branch operations in Fargo, North Dakota.
