Tadano launches two new truck cranes

Tadano has announced two new truck crane models for the US and Canadian market, the 110 tonne capacity GT-1200XL-2 and the 72.6 tonne capacity GT-800XL-2.

The truck cranes have been designed with a low axle weight, narrow width and long boom designs to aid the process of road permit approvals, making them ideal for taxi crane service, the company said.

To meet the most stringent axle load limits, a boom dolly trailer is available.

Crane specifics

Offering a maximum lifting capacity of 110 tonnes at a 2.4 metre radius, the GT-1200XL-2 features a new-design five section pinning boom. It offers a lifting range from 12.5 to 51 metres and can be equipped with different jib designs in lengths from 10.3 to 17.9 metres to optimize crane lifting capabilities.

Self-rigging counterweight options range from 3.5 to 25 tonnes, allowing the crane to efficiently handle a range of lifts.

Boasting the longest boom in its class, the 72.6 tonne capacity Tadano GT-800XL-2 truck crane features a strong five-section boom that hydraulically telescopes from 12 to 47 metres long. To increase lifting versatility, it can be equipped with up to a 17.9 metre jib.

Multiple self-removable counterweight configurations up to 8.1 tonne further increase lifting flexibility.

On the road

Tadano said these new truck cranes feature independent front and rear air suspension, and steer axle systems - Airtek NXT and Roadmaax, developed by Hendrickson Truck Commercial Vehicle Systems.

The cranes have ZF TraXon transmissions with 12 forward gears.

Both cranes have disc brakes on all wheels.

With their self-rigging counterweight, the new truck cranes are quickly ready for lifting once on site, allowing them to complete multiple projects in a single day, Tadano said.

Fuel efficiency

Power comes from a Cummins X12 engine. To prevent wasted fuel, there is a positive control system to meter the quantity of hydraulic pump discharge during crane operation, and an eco mode to control maximum engine speed.

Easy operations

Ease of operation for crane operators has been considered too, the company said.

The in-cab monitor offers a clear view of operating parameters plus standard cable and backup camera feeds for safe and efficient operations.

Long and strong boom design combines with asymmetric outrigger setup capability to offer excellent lift capacities on confined jobsites.

With asymmetric outrigger capabilities, the cranes’ smart chart can optimise lift capacities and radius, especially when lifting over the outriggers.

The cranes also benefit from Tadano’s Hello-Net telematics which offer real-time operation information remotely to head offices and service technicians.
