Terex Cranes introduces QR codes in communications

21 November 2011

Terex Cranes has begun integrating the use of Quick Response codes (QR codes) into its latest printed communication to customers and distributors.

Introduced in 1994 for the tracking of parts in the automobile industry, the QR code is an evolution of the statutory product bar code. It enables customers to instantly learn more about a business and its products directly from their mobile phone.

Readable by most mobile or smart phones with an existing or downloadable application, users of mobile phones can now scan printed QR codes with their phone's camera to access business or product specific information directly from any location in many countries.

"The introduction of QR codes fits well with our approach to customer responsiveness," said Sven Ebinger, director marketing, global communication and brand management, Terex Cranes. "The idea is to enable our customers and distributors to go directly to what interests them the most rapidly."

It its initial stages, the presence of QR codes on Terex Cranes communication provides customers and distributors direct access to the company website. In coming months users will have access to supplementary information such as product demonstration videos, special offers, as well as other resources, the company said.
