Later this month the 2005 International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition will be held in Louisville, KY, where more than one million square feet of space will be dedicated to product exhibitions and demonstrations of the latest equipment, technologies, products and services for the utility and construction industry.

Known as the Demo Expo, ICUEE is set to stage one of its most successful shows ever over September 27 to 29 at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center, according to ICUEE's, Pat Monroe. “Icuee working in 2005 will feature expanded education opportunities, plus informational exchanges and networking, all designed to help attendees enhance their productivity and make qualified decisions for business growth,” she said. “The show will be a showcase for new products and technologies.”

Some 15,000 professionals electricity, sewer/water, phone/cable, gas, general construction, public works/government or landscaping are expected to attend the three–day exhibition.

After polling those who attended the show in 2003, ICUEE 2005 will present a new product display of the latest industry technological advances. Almost 70% of attendees surveyed indicated they look specifically for new products and innovations, and this area will highlight companies with

A hallmark of the exposition is the opportunity for attendees to actually operate equipment in demonstrations simulating real–life working conditions. The show has significantly expanded its outdoor demonstration area for in–ground work applications, and the show's outdoor exhibit space also highlights “equipment in action” demonstrations of aerial and other above–ground machines. Exhibits at ICUEE 2005 will be segmented into “product concentration” areas to help attendees and the companies and products of most interest.

Attendees can take advantage of more than 40 learning sessions presented by industry experts. Case studies will focus on the latest technological, operational, safety and regulatory issues and trends affecting the utility and construction industries.

Attendees can pre–plan their time on site using new interactive tools on the ICUEE website, where visitors can access exhibitor information via digital “booths.” The online “my expo” feature allows attendees to generate a list of the exhibitors they want to see and download a floor plan showing those booths. Since ICUEE's inception in 1964 the demonstration concept has been a defining characteristic of the exhibition. From its humble beginnings as a modest equipment demonstration by one company in an Illinois farm field, the show has grown to become the industry's leading demonstration exposition and one of the largest exhibitions of any industry in the US. The show is owned and produced by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), the North America–based trade and business development group serving the international of–road equipment manufacturing industry.

A number of crane and boom truck manufacturers and related lifting and transportation suppliers will be exhibiting. (See box above).

In the knuckle boom category, Palfinger North America will show a number of cranes, including a PK 21502 installed on an International truck as well as a display of its hooklift systems, which replace the traditional cable hoist. Palift allows containers of different lengths to be transported without the center of gravity of the carrier vehicle shifting. Some of the main features of the Palift T20 on display include a sliding or articulating jib, dual main cylinders, in–cab pneumatic or electric controls, and a direct mount piston pump.

Cranesmart Systems will show its wireless load moment indicators, load monitors, anti–2–blocks, wind speed, and boom angle indicators for cranes and winch line applications.

Tadano America's National Boom trucks Sales Manager Bryan Dammann is excited about show where two Tadano boom trucks, the TM 1882 tractor mount and the TM 1052, will be shown. “This is our first ICUEE, our first show with a boom truck product,” he said. “We are looking forward to a good show and being able to introduce our product to all the attendees.” Dammann says the response to Tadano's latest boom truck models has been great. “We are sold out until February,” he said of the TM 1882.
