Two new big Liebherr crawler cranes for Mammoet

International heavy lift and transport giant Mammoet has extended its fleet of heavy lift equipment with two new crawler cranes from Liebherr.

The Dutch company has added the Liebherr LR 11350 and LR 12500-1.0 lattice boom models to its global fleet. The LR 12500-1.0 is the second of its type to be purchased by Mammoet.

The LR 12500-1.0 was introduced in 2022. It is one of the largest crawler cranes available, eclipsed only by the LR 13000 in Liebherr’s range. An example of the 3,000 tonne capacity model is also in the Mammoet fleet.

The addition of the two new crawler cranes is said to be in response to growth in the renewable energy sector, particularly offshore wind, where turbine heights are continuing to increase. As a result, these require taller and stronger cranes to handle the components.

Capabilities

The LR 11350 lifts 1,350 tonnes and maximum hoisting height is 220 metres. It joins ten other machines in the Mammoet fleet with a capacity of between 1,000 and 1,350 tonnes.

The LR 12500-1.0’s 2,500 tonne capacity is derived from the wide main boom. It has a hoist height of 200 metres, while the modular design makes it easier to transport.
