Manitex International, Inc. has secured orders for boom trucks, rough terrain cranes and rough terrain forklifts worth US$5 million from its Georgetown, Texas, USA subsiduary.

The orders, set for delivery in the third and fourth quaters of 2010, have been placed by Manitex dealers, North West Crane, Ltd. and Cropac Equipment, Inc. They will provide support services to the energy sector in western Canada, as well as to the general construction segment in eastern Canada.

The orders from North West Crane represents the largest single delivery of such Manitex products to western Canada in more than two years, says the manufacturer.

The boom trucks will include some of the highest capacity cranes in the Manitex line and predominantly consist of the Manitex 45 and 50 US ton platforms. A number of these will include the company's new 155 foot powered boom, which is the longest in the boom truck industry.

"We are optimistic these recent orders signal the start of a continued upturn in western Canada, and show continued strength in the eastern Canada market," says Scott Rolston, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Manitex International.
