Western Crane & Rigging takes delivery of its LTM 1100-5.3

Kentucky, USA-based Western Crane & Rigging has taken delivery of a Liebherr LTM 1100-5.3 five-axle all-terrain crane, marking the company’s first purchase from the German manufacturer.

Founded in 1987, Western Crane & Rigging has built a reputation in the region for turnkey lifting, rigging and millwright services, as well as steel fabrication for industrial, commercial and infrastructure projects.

With demand rising from data center construction and other heavy industrial work, the company began looking for equipment that could offer greater flexibility, performance and on-road mobility.

Crane specifics

The LTM 1100-5.3 is a 100-tonne class (110-US ton) all-terrain crane designed to balance lifting performance with efficient road travel. Its telescopic boom and compact five-axle carrier allow the crane to move quickly between jobs, while still handling the heavier lifts required on today’s complex industrial sites.

It can travel on public roads carrying up to 37,250 pounds (16.9 tonnes) of counterweight, reducing the need for additional transport and making it easier to mobilize from one project to the next.

For Western Crane & Rigging, the delivery represents more than just a new piece of equipment. The company, now led by second-generation owners, views the purchase as a key step in its continued growth.

The LTM 1100-5.3 is the first of three Liebherr cranes the company has on order. Western Crane & Rigging is also set to receive an LTR 1220 telescopic crawler crane and an LR 1400 SX lattice boom crawler crane.
