Wind turbines transported in Greece

Cosmatos Shipping Services, member to the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) for Greece, recently completed the deliveries of wind turbine towers, transformers parts and their accessories at Thessaloniki Port.
A total of 45 wind turbine towers, two transformers and 32 packages with accessories arrived by ocean vessel and required safe and on time discharging at the port.
The windmill towers ranged between 49 and 91 tonnes in weight. The two transformers weighed 71 and 110 tonnes.
Cosmatos Shipping took care of the ship’s husbandry, the unwelding and unlashing operations, the stevedoring and cranage as well as being involved in the customs import formalities.
The company also arranged for the temporary storage of the main transformer at the Port open area as well as the accessories to a covered area.
The Port of Thessaloniki is one of the largest seaports in the Eastern Mediterranean. It is considered the gateway Port to the Balkans and South East Europe, and is located in Macedonia, Greece.
