Zoomlion targets Turkish growth with cranes, excavators and local support

Zoomlion equipment is being deployed on some of Türkiye’s largest construction programmes as the Chinese manufacturer expands its sales and service presence in the country.

The company’s cranes are working at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant on Türkiye’s Mediterranean coast, while its excavators have been used on reconstruction work in Hatay Province following the 2023 earthquakes. Zoomlion has also continued to expand its Turkish support network, including opening a new branch in Konya in April 2026.

Türkiye has a substantial pipeline of energy and infrastructure work. According to figures cited from the International Energy Agency, meeting the country’s 2030 targets will require around US$80 billion of renewable energy investment, US$28 billion in grid infrastructure and US$20 billion in energy efficiency measures.

Separate research estimated that Türkiye could require more than US$116 billion of transport infrastructure investment by 2035, spanning road, rail and port projects.

Heavy lifting at Akkuyu

Among the projects where Zoomlion equipment is operating is the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in Mersin Province.

The plant is being built with four VVER-1200 reactor units with a planned combined capacity of 4,800MW. Lifting work on the site is being carried out by Turkish heavy-lift and crane rental company Sarılar Group.

Its fleet at Akkuyu includes Zoomlion ZCC12500 and ZCC32000 crawler cranes.

The ZCC12500 has been used at the plant’s marine terminal to unload generator units and other electromechanical equipment, including a 490-tonne generator unit.

The larger ZCC32000 is a 2,000-tonne-class lattice-boom crawler crane with a maximum lifting moment of 32,000 tonne-metres. It has been deployed in a superlift counterweight configuration for heavy and long-radius lifts on the project.

More than 30 Zoomlion cranes were working across the Akkuyu site by 2023.

Excavators on reconstruction work

Zoomlion equipment is also being used in Hatay Province, one of the areas most heavily affected by the earthquakes that struck Türkiye in February 2023.

ZE-series crawler excavators, including ZE215G and ZE375G models, have been carrying out site clearance and earthmoving as part of reconstruction-related work in the province.

The work forms part of a long-running reconstruction programme requiring equipment and support to remain available across multiple sites.

Keyyum, deputy general manager of Zoomlion Global, said, “A lot of the hesitation we still hear about where a machine is built comes down to whether support will actually be there later in the project. That is the question our local network exists to answer.”
