A 2,000 tonne capacity XCMG crawler crane and 750 tonne capacity Liebherr crawler crane worked together to install a 740 tonne oil reactor at the Sinochem Quanzhou Huian refinery construction project in China in August.

The two cranes, working with the XCMG as the lead crane and the Liebherr as the slide tail crane, lifted and placed the 4.5 metre diameter and 8 m long reactor in an operation that took 90 minutes to complete.

The XCMG crawler lifting at 16 m radius worked with 54 m main boom while the Liebherr used 42 m of main boom and lifted at 12 m radius.

Working together, the two cranes lifted the residual oil reactor. Then the XCMG crawler continued to lift the reactor until it was fully erected. The Liebherr crane was then decoupled and the XCMG crawler travelled with the load of the reactor before hanging it over the base. The reactor was then successfully put in place and installed.
