Turkey-based construction company Görgülü İnşaat used its Potain MCT 185 flat top tower crane on the Tersane Istanbul construction development project in Turkey.

The project, which is being built on a former shipyard in Golden Horn Bay, the development will feature luxury waterfront residences as well as food, retail and entertainment services.

Designed for urban and infrastructure projects, the crane has a maximum lifting capacity of 8 tonnes and comes with a 65 metre jib. Capacity at the jib end is 1.5 tonnes.

A Manitowoc team of three engineers from Zhangjiagang, China, travelled to Turkey to supervise the commissioning of the crane as well as providing on-site training to the team.

“We covered common operating issues and how to resolve them, as well as the importance of maximizing uptime through regular inspections, fault diagnosis, and preventive maintenance. Learning in real-time, on the job helped the crew to understand much faster and will give them the confidence to get the most out of their new purchase,” said Zhang Yuanxiong, Manitowoc’s field service manager.

The crane is expected to remain on site for one year.
