Michelin bringt eine neue Größe für Kranreifen auf den Markt
13 Mai 2025
Tire manufacturer Michelin is expanding its X-Crane 2 range with a new size.
The 445/95 R25 features a new load and speed index of 178F. This allows the crane to transport heavier loads at higher speeds. Its predecessor, the X-Crane+, had a load index of 174F. The additional load capacity per tire is significant: 800 kg more at 80 km/h, or 1.6 tons more per axle at high speeds.
The French company said its new tire offers longer life, better traction, improved safety and overall performance thanks to the use of Michelin Regenion technology.
Michelin describes its Regenion technology as the use of metal 3D printing to create self-regenerating treads. In addition to longer tread life, this results in fuel savings of over 13%, equivalent to a saving of 826 liters of diesel per 10,000 km, according to the manufacturer.
Shorter braking distance
Another advantage is improved braking performance in wet conditions. The company stated that several wet braking tests showed that the next best competitor, the Bridgestone VHS2, had to brake 27% longer, which equates to an additional stopping distance of over 10 meters.
Designed for all-terrain cranes, it can be used both on and off-road and is certified for M+S (mud and snow). It combines a deep-bed carcass with a truck tire tread pattern and is 5 percent lighter than the X-Crane+.
The new X-Crane 2 in size 445/95 R25 is approved for use on all-terrain cranes from Liebherr, Grove, Tadano, and Link-Belt. The first X-Crane 2, launched almost a year ago, was size 445/75 R22.5 and was designed for mobile folding cranes from Sperings.
