Manufacturer Sennebogen in Germany has added a 220 tonne capacity model to its range of heavy duty lattice boom crawler cranes.

Manufacturer Sennebogen in Germany has a new 220 tonne capacity model in its HD duty cycle range of lattice boom crawler cranes.

Maximum boom length on the new 6220 E is 74.7 metres when configured for lifting. The new model closes a gap in the range between the 140 tonne capacity 6140 E and the 300 tonne 6300 E.

Its design follows a modular concept to increase versatility and adaptability to a wide range of applications. Buyers can choose a 563 kW engine or there is a 708 kW option. Other options include attachments and ballast combinations, according to the machine’s intended use as a crane or excavator.

Winch options include 30 or 35 tonne free-fall or 2 x 20 tonne double winches.

It is interesting to note the boom has synthetic (aramid) fibre guy ropes, instead of steel, which saves weight. Two slewing motors are fitted as standard, giving a high slewing torque of 585 kN.

Creature comforts

To maximise comfort for the operator the new 6220 E has the large Maxcab and it can be tilted by 20 degrees to improve the operator’s view of the load and its surroundings.

A height safety device is fitted on the boom as standard and there are several improvements to the access steps and walkways. For greater convenience and safety assembling the undercarriage and changing the reeving can be done via a remote control.

The new 6220 E has the Starlifter undercarriage with a track width of 6,400 mm and the crawlers are 9,280 mm long. As standard there are 1 metre wide flat track shoes. For lighter transport the crawler track frames can be removed to give a maximum transport unit weight around 65 tonnes.
