ALL boosts heavy-haul skills with HighwayMax
27 May 2025
The ALL Family of Companies is investing in the future of its heavy-haul operations by training more drivers on the use of its Faymonville HighwayMax trailers. Earlier this month, the company hosted an all-day training session near its Cleveland, Ohio, USA, headquarters, bringing together a dozen drivers from branches across Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Indiana and Illinois.

The HighwayMax is a nine-axle, extendable highway trailer designed for extreme loads, offering a legal payload of up to 170,000 pounds (249,000-pound technical payload). Its hydraulically steered pendle-axles provide maneuverability in tight spaces, with the ability to adjust axle spacing up to 22.5 feet between three-axle groups. Each axle can steer independently up to 60 degrees and can also be lifted as needed.
To lead the session, ALL brought in Shannon Richardson, U.S. representative for Faymonville from Hale Trailer. The training began with a deep dive into Faymonville’s onboard software, the Faymonville Analytical Loading Capacity Organizer (Falco), which enables operators to simulate different load scenarios. The tool mirrors ALL’s 3D lift planning software for cranes, allowing teams to virtually plan and test load configurations before a move.
Drivers then transitioned to hands-on training, learning how the HighwayMAX differs from traditional heavy-haul equipment. Because the trailer’s axles steer in sync with the truck, drivers can make tight turns without the wide swings typically required for such loads. The session also covered best practices for axle alignment, strategies to reduce fuel consumption by lifting unneeded axles, and operating the trailer’s hydraulic deck-lowering system, which can adjust from 41 inches down to 24 inches.
ALL operates its own trucking division, giving it flexibility to transport cranes across its 33 branches.
