August Alborn strengthens fleet with modular Scheuerle K25 axle lines

The expansion will enhance the company’s transport safety and efficiency with a custom load securing system developed in collaboration with RUD.

German heavy-haul specialist August Alborn has added several Scheuerle K25 axle lines to its fleet, strengthening a business relationship with TII Scheuerle that spans more than six decades.

Helmut Alborn, managing director, cited the modular platform vehicles’ technical advantages, strong price-performance ratio and advanced transport safety features as key factors in the purchase decision. The company worked closely with RUD, a leader in lashing equipment, to develop a highly efficient load securing system tailored to its needs.

“I want to be able to sleep soundly – despite the demanding transport tasks we carry out for our customers on a daily basis,” said Alborn.

The fourth-generation, family-owned company specializes in transporting heavy and oversized loads, including machinery, bridge elements, transformers and rail vehicles. Its fleet includes mobile cranes, heavy-duty vehicles and lifting platforms with capacities up to 1,440 tonnes, supported by an in-house engineering department and extensive steel storage for modular construction.

Capacity and flexibility

The newly acquired K25 axle lines, along with a slab deck and frame deck, will enhance the company’s ability to transport loads between 80 and 130 tonnes, with the flexibility to accommodate weights up to 180 tonnes on the road and 400 tonnes in-house. The modular platform vehicles feature a low loading height, single-tyre configuration for improved safety, and an exceptionally stable design for high-centre-of-gravity loads.

“These are the kind of investments that really pay off. Every accident we prevent saves us a lot of money,” Alborn emphasised.

The investment underwent rigorous testing before delivery, with TII Scheuerle, RUD, MAN, and Michelin collaborating to evaluate performance under adverse conditions. The MAN TGX 41.640 8x4/4 tractor unit, equipped with a high-torque drivetrain, ensures the combination can safely transport loads up to 500 tonnes while navigating challenging terrain.

“The engine power reliably ensures that transportation can start even under unfavorable conditions and that there are no breakdowns,” Alborn stated.

With this latest fleet expansion, August Alborn continues to strengthen its position as a leader in specialized heavy transport.
